Review vs. Research Paper

A research paper and a review paper serve distinct purposes in the academic landscape. A research paper focuses on presenting original findings derived from experiments, data analysis, or case studies, structured with sections such as introduction, methodology, results, and discussion. Its primary aim is to contribute new insights or knowledge to a specific field. In contrast, a review paper synthesizes and analyzes existing literature on a particular topic, offering a comprehensive overview of current knowledge, identifying trends, and highlighting gaps for future research. While a research paper is a report of new discoveries, a review paper provides a critical evaluation of what is already known, making both types of papers essential for advancing academic discourse.
